Description: This LiveTalk will discuss how to provide vestibular and other movement-based activities in natural environments including home and school, the clinical reasoning and rationale for given interventions, and problem solving on how to engage others in promoting movement experiences for children.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this LiveTalk listeners will be able to:

  1. Identify a variety of strategies for addressing the vestibular and movement needs of children with sensory integration difficulties.
  2. Describe the rationale and clinical reasoning for providing movement activities in natural environments.
  3. Identify problems associated with vestibular and movement difficulties in children with sensory integration difficulties.

Course Level: Introductory. There are no prerequisites for this course.

Suitable For: Occupational therapists, OT assistants, physical therapists, PT assistants, speech and language therapists.

About the Speaker: Diana Henry, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA is president of Henry Occupational Therapy Services, Inc. Diana, along with Lorna Jean King, founded what is now the Children’s Center in Arizona. In 1984 she opened her clinic specializing in sensory integration. She has taught at Arizona State University , nationally to school districts and associations/clinics, as well as internationally in Australia, Canada, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Brazil, Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. She also writes and produces a line of books and DVDs in the Tools For series. Diana Henry received her B.S. in OT from Tufts University, and her M.S. in sensory integration from Rush University.
