Description: Occupational Therapists in schools and clinics typically have common goals but the school OT may have a considerable restrictions on the “what” and “how” they may provide OT treatment to their students. Anne Trecker has worked in both clinical and school settings and will provide insight into the challenges and benefits of this type of intradisciplinary collaboration. She will also address how OT’s can best support each other to provide the best treatment plan for their student/client. This live talk will address questions surrounding the where, when, how and why to successful collaboration between school and clinical occupational therapists.

About the Speakers: Anne Trecker, MS, OTR/L, was the founding executive director of the Spiral Foundation, and now serves as a member of the board. Ms. Trecker is an occupational therapist and formerly sensory integration specialist with the Boston Public Schools. In her previous position, she provided consultation to occupational therapists and teachers related to children with significant sensory integration issues. In addition to consulting, she provided OT services to children at the Mission Hill Pilot School. Before working for the Boston Public Schools, she was the Clinical Director of Occupational Therapy Associates – Watertown, now known as OTA The Koomar Center. In that position she worked with children with a wide range of disabilities, with a special emphasis on children with autism. She has lectured on sensory integration theory and intervention throughout the United States, and presents frequently for parent and teachers groups in the Boston area.
