Description: This LiveTalk discusses interventions for promoting oral motor skills in children and the rationale and clinical reasoning behind them. Listeners will also learn about respiratory functions and their relationship with oral motor success and difficulty.

  2. Describe important points to consider when engaged in clinical reasoning oral motor interventions.
  3. Identify how oral motor and respiratory difficulties interface for function.

About the Speaker: Stacey Szklut M.S., OTR/L is the owner and executive director of South Shore Therapies, Inc. She specializes in intervention for individuals with sensory, motor, pre-vocational, and feeding difficulties and has advanced training in feeding/ oral motor interventions and therapeutic listening programs. Stacey is a nationally recognized expert in the area of sensory integration. In addition to her work in the clinic, she travels nationally to teach a wide variety of workshops on assessment, intervention, and combining therapeutic techniques. She has recently developed a course of interventions for children with ASD. Stacey’s extensive clinical and teaching experience provides the foundation for her belief in an eclectic approach to intervention, focusing on developing functional abilities for independence. She has been positively impacting lives with her therapy since 1982.
