Description: In conjunction with AOTA joining the Choosing Wisely Campaign, SPIRAL will be offering a series of Live Talks in 2021 to assist occupational therapy practitioners to apply the recommendations made by AOTA while using the Sensory Integration Frame of Reference within diverse populations. The primary focus of the talks will target the recommendation: “Don’t provide sensory based interventions to individual children or youth without documented assessment results of difficulties processing or integrating sensory information”. There will be two talks presented for each population area, the first will focus on assessment and the second will focus on intervention. We will begin the series with the Autism Spectrum Disorder population, then move through Praxis, Trauma, Schools and finish with Adults. Our speakers include Renee Watling, Teresa May-Benson, Maude LeRoux and Anne Trecker.
In Part Three of 2021 Live Talk Series, Maude Le Roux, OTR/L, SIPT, RCTC, DIR® Expert Trainer, fresh from an ATTaCh conference, will join us to discuss current trends in assessment and intervention for individuals with trauma histories. Maude serves on the board for ATTACh, an international organization involved in attachment and trauma informed care. She is currently mobilizing an international group of Occupational Therapists to organize the influence of trauma informed care in the occupational therapy field. Maude has published two books; “The Listening Journey for Children”, and “Our Greatest Allies”.
