Description:Â This webinar is designed to provide viewers with a basic understanding of primitive reflexes/primary movement patterns, how these patterns relate to postural development and functional skills, and the importance of thinking about these patterns in the context of sensory integration treatment. As occupational therapists using a sensory integrative framework, it is important for us to recognize the influence these primarily movement patterns are potentially having on our clients and to understand how to support our clients with this additional lens.

By the end of this webinar viewers will be able to:
- Describe the link between primary movement patterns, postural development, and sensory integration.
- Identify factors that can interfere with reflex integration.
- List ways in which primary movement patterns become integrated into skilled, volitional movement.
- Identify ways to incorporate activities that support primary movement pattern integration into treatment.

About the Speaker:Â Jaymie earned her Master of Science degree in occupational therapy, graduating Summa Cum Laude and as Valedictorian of her class at the University at Buffalo in New York. During her time at UB, Jaymie served as President of the UB Student Occupational Therapy Association and member of Pi Theta Epsilon OT National Honor Society. Jaymie received national recognition from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation as the 2013 recipient of the Mary Fiorentino Memorial Scholarship Award for excellence in qualifications and potential for future professional development. Jaymie currently serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary for Camp Avanti, an intensive occupational therapy program for children with sensory processing dysfunction and/or learning disabilities. She has experience working with children in the home, school, and clinic setting, as well as running parent/child community-based sensory motor groups and summer camps. Jaymie is a certified provider of Therapeutic Listening and has training in DIR/Floor-time.
