Description: This presentation will focus on goal oriented treatment of children who struggle with sensory integration and mental health issues. We will discuss treatment strategies to help children regulate themselves by using sensory interventions. Addressing self-regulation in children requires therapists to have a self-regulatory framework that guides treatment. This framework includes the intentional awareness of the therapist’s experience in the treatment room. This webinar will provide strategies and tools for working effectively from a sensory integration and mental health perspective.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar viewers will be able to:

  1. Identify effective treatment goals for self-regulation in children.
  2. Identify ways to self-regulate before meeting dysregulated children.
  3. Name treatment strategies based on brain principles and attachment theory.
  4. Recognize how to use body-oriented strategies to self-regulate more quickly.

Course Level: Intermediate. There are no prerequisites for this course.

About the Speaker: Silke Plesch, MA, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in families and individuals who have experienced trauma.  She is trained in solution-focused, sensorimotor approaches, and attachment issues. Silke has been practicing for five years, and currently operates a private practice, Clematis Counseling and Consultation.
