Description: This webinar will address the concept of dosage- the amount of intervention needed to make a meaningful change- in relation to Ayres Sensory Integration (ASI). A synthesis of dosages and resulting outcomes recorded in the ASI literature will be discussed. Dosages and efficacy of alternative evidence-based interventions will also be explored to guide a discussion on the available evidence on dosage, factors that impact the current delivery of ASI intervention as well as factors for occupational therapists to consider when making dosage decisions.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this webinar viewers will be able to:

  1. Discuss the current evidence that is available on dosage within the ASI literature.
  2. Describe factors that impact current delivery model(s) of ASI intervention.
  3. Describe how specific client factors may impact the dosage decision making process for ASI
    intervention.

Course Level: Intermediate. There are no prerequisites for this course.

About the Speaker: Laura Ruzzano, MSc, MA, OTS – graduated with a Master of Arts in occupational therapy (OT) from the University of Southern California. She is currently completing her second Level II fieldwork, where she splits her time between research at the Spiral Foundation (Supervisor: Dr. Teresa May-Benson, ScD, OTR/L, FAOTA) and clinical practice at OTA-The Koomar Center – a private sensory integration clinic in Massachusetts.  Prior to pursuing OT, Laura completed her Master of Science in Research Psychology and worked for 3+ years as a researcher at the Dr. Leo Kannerhuis – a research and treatment center for individuals with autism in the Netherlands. She has published and presented on various studies, all of which have focused on individuals with developmental disabilities, and therefore this presentation emerged from Laura’s education, research and clinical experiences with Ayres Sensory Integration.
